Joe Lennox scored his first goal for Plymouth to earn them a draw at Exeter in the Devon derby.
Exeter took the lead against the run of play when Liam Sercombe's deflected 25-yard shot flew into the bottom corner.
Jamie Cureton could have doubled the lead but shot high and wide with only Argyle keeper Rene Gilmartin to beat.
Lennox levelled when his deflected shot went in off the far post and Plymouth held on despite having Maxime Blanchard sent off for a second yellow card.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon:
"It was a very scrappy, even sort of game.
"I'd like to think we could have scored more today on our chances.
"We're slightly disappointed we lost the lead.
"We had our chance to go 2-0 up and didn't take it."
Plymouth Argyle manager Carl Fletcher told BBC Radio Devon:
"I thought we were in control of the game.
"Jamie Cureton didn't have his finishing boots on today, which we're delighted about.
"We put them under a lot of pressure and got the goal which we deserved.
"He (Joe Lennox) is growing up, maturing and learning how to do the defensive side of the game which makes him a dangerous player."
