Birmingham City: Jake Jervis departs Blues for Turkey

Birmingham City striker Jake Jervis has left St Andrew's to move to struggling Turkish Super League side Elazigspor on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The 21-year-old Wolverhampton-born forward has already been out on loan with League One sides this season - at Carlisle, Tranmere and Portsmouth.

But he was allowed just two substitute appearances under Blues boss Lee Clark.

"Jake's got himself a great opportunity playing in the Turkish top flight. We wish him all the best," said Clark.

Jervis has been at St Andrew's six years, since being signed as a 15-year-old from Shrewsbury Town, but he made just five senior appearances.

And his 14 career goals to date have all come during is eight separate loan moves - to Hereford United (twice), Notts County, Swindon Town, Preston North End and this season's three short spells at Carlisle, Tranmere, where he was injured after scoring on his debut, and most recently Portsmouth.

Elazigspor, who stand a point off the bottom of the 18-team Turkish Super League, are reported to have paid a fee of 50,000 Euros.

Meanwhile, young Blues defender Will Packwood has undergone his third operation as he bids to recover from the broken leg he suffered in the 1-1 FA Cup third-round draw at Leeds on 5 January.

After undergoing an immediate operation in Leeds after the match, he had surgery last week to reset the break before further surgery on Wednesday, once the swelling had gone down, to insert a metal rod.

"Will Packwood has now been moved from Leeds to Birmingham, is in good spirits and he knows there's a lot of hard work ahead of him," said Clark.
