Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has become technical director of United Arab Emirates side Al Nasr.

The 64-year-old said he had several other offers including one from German second division club 1860 Munich.

Al Nasr are managed by Walter Zenga, who was Italy's goalkeeper at the 1990 World Cup.

Eriksson has just finished a temporary role as technical director of Thai club BEC Tero Sasana, having been sacked as manager of Leicester in October 2011.

After being presented by the Dubai club, Eriksson insisted it was his "love of football" that convinced him to join.

The Swede, who has signed an 18-month contract, has managed the likes of Gothenburg, Benfica, Lazio, England, Manchester City, Mexico and the Ivory Coast in his 35-year coaching career.
