Manchester United youngster Luke McCullough has been recalled from his loan spell at League Two side Cheltenham Town.

The 18-year-old defender arrived at Whaddon Road in January and made just one substitute appearance, in their 1-1 draw with Aldershot.

"I want to thank Manchester United and Luke," Robins manager Mark Yates told the club website.

"Both have been superb. We understand the reasoning for the recall."

McCullough captained the Red Devils' academy side for the 2011-12 campaign and made 25 appearances.

He was loaned to Cheltenham in order to get first-team experience but found himself unable to gain a place because of the form of fellow loan player Michael Hector.

Yates added: "Luke has had to be very patient but we were happy to have him round here and I hope the experience of being around a first team has been beneficial for him."
