Ebbsfleet Utd 1-1 Nuneaton

  • Published

Nuneaton's Andy Brown scored a late equaliser to hold fellow Blue Square Bet Premier strugglers Ebbsfleet.

Ebbsfleet dominated the early stages and deservedly went ahead as defender Tom Phipp volleyed home from 10 yards.

The visitors battled back and nearly drew level but Wesley York's effort from inside the area was parried by home goalkeeper Preston Edwards.

But in the last minute, Brown headed in Tom James' pass to share the spoils and put his side within a point of safety.

Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish told BBC Radio Kent:

League may be too big for us - Daish

"That's the story of our season today - conceding late, another draw, and not finishing the job off.

"It wasn't about today - during our whole season we've not defended well enough. It's getting to this stage where you look back over the season and there have been too many dropped points at home.

"It's looking tough, and [I wonder] whether this league is too strong for us, as a club and not just on the pitch.

"It's not numerically out of the question now but it's a tough ask."
