Motherwell manager Stuart McCall praised a fine team effort in the 3-1 defeat of Dundee United.

Michael Higdon's brace and Henrik Ojamaa's strike gave the Steelmen a comfortable win at Tannadice.

"From the goalkeeper Darren Randolph right through to big Michael Higdon, we had a lot of good performances," McCall told BBC Scotland.

"I'm delighted we've managed to win at a very tough place. It's a big win and the lads deserve all the credit."

McCall's men move six points clear of third-place Inverness, who face Celtic on Sunday with the latter needing just a point to clinch the Scottish Premier League title.

"I was really pleased with the performance but I thought Dundee United were terrific as well," added the Motherwell boss.

"I thought it was a really good game of football and [there were] some smashing goals.

"Three goals away from home, nine away victories; we can't ask for any more really."
