Lincoln City: Boss Gary Simpson signs new three-year deal

Lincoln City manager Gary Simpson has signed a new three-year contract with the Blue Square Bet Premier club.

The deal comes after the Sincil Bank side ensured their survival in non-league's top tier with an emphatic 5-1 win at Hyde on Saturday.

Club chairman Bob Dorrian told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Gary has a vision for Lincoln City.

"We had a meeting and fully bought in to what Gary had to say and with what Gary wants to do in the future."

The club also confirmed that Grant Brown and Chris Moyses will stay on as Simpson's assistant coaches.

The 51-year-old was appointed manager in February with the Imps two places and two points above the relegation zone in the wake of David Holdsworth's departure by mutual consent.

Dorrian said the board had been impressed by Simpson's influence and have subsequently decided to increase the club's playing budget in an effort to return the Imps to League Two after a two-year absence.

"He has a plan to progress and propel Lincoln City forward, and above all else he has a plan to get this club back into the Football League," Dorrian said.

"It is very important that we try to increase the budget and we are looking at ways and means of doing that.

"It has been difficult transition financially from Football League to non-league, and we feel that we are getting used to life at the wrong end of the footballing spectrum.

"We feel more comfortable now of putting extra money into the budget, especially now that Gary is our manager."

In an effort to cut costs for next season, the club has announced that the Stacey West Stand at Sincil Bank will be closed.
