Martin Perry: Brighton will not be disrupted by Rugby World Cup

Brighton executive director Martin Perry says hosting 2015 Rugby World Cup matches will not be disruptive to the team and manager Gus Poyet .

Two of South Africa's pool games will be played at the Amex Stadium just one month into the 2014-15 football season.

"It all fits into the football season as the matches will be played in the international break and won't disrupt Gus's plans," he told BBC Sussex.

"Gus is pragmatic and knows it's great for the club. He's definitely on side."

Albion moved into the £93m Amex Stadium in 2011, 14 years after leaving their Goldstone Ground to temporarily share with Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium.

The club then returned to Brighton, erecting temporary seating at Withdean Athletics Stadium - their home for the next 12 seasons.

The Seagulls new stadium has already held international football, recently playing host to an England Under-21 match against Austria.

"It's a huge coup and a real reflection of the venue," Perry continued.

"We designed it as a multi-purpose sports stadium and it will hopefully bring both revenue to the football club and also puts us on the world stage."
