Jersey captain Luke Watson is unlikely to be fit for the end-of season-Muratti clash with Guernsey.

He led the side in the Uefa Regions' Cup in San Marino earlier this year and scored in the victory over the hosts.

The St Paul's midfielder also netted twice in the Muratti semi-final win over Alderney, but has a hernia.

"He's going to be very doubtful. He'll be getting booked in for a hernia operation, he's struggling with his groins" said Jersey boss Craig Culkin.

He continued: "His form in San Marino was sensational and it's going to be a little bit of a blow.

"Despite the fact he could possibly pull through we don't feel it's worth the risk with some of the other personnel that we've got in the squad."

Jersey face Middlesex Wanderers in a friendly on Saturday in their final warm-up before the showdown with Guernsey.

Culkin will wait to see whether his players pick up any knocks before naming his Muratti squad early next week.
