League Two newcomers Mansfield Town have signed midfielder Jamie McGuire.

McGuire, 29, promoted with Fleetwood to the league in 2012, made 40 appearances for the Cod Army this season but, having been released last week, he has been picked up by Stags boss Paul Cox.

"I've known Paul for a while, from my days at Cammell Laird and when he was at Eastwood," said McGuire.

"What he did last year was incredible. As soon as he showed an interest in me I wanted to tie down the deal."

Cox added: "I think my relationship with Jamie has aided the signing.

"He has been coveted by a number of clubs, from non-league and Football League.

"He is an all-action player who I would describe as a complete winner."

Meanwhile, Stags defender Luke Jones, 26, is expected to turn down a new deal and join a League One club.

Cox has offered professional deals to youth team players Jason Gregory, Ben Birch and Liam Marsden.
