Striker Charlie Strutton has signed a new two-year deal with AFC Wimbledon.

The 24-year-old missed much of this season with a knee injury but returned in time to help the Dons secure League Two survival, appearing in three of their last four games.

He told the club website:, external "I am over the moon because this is what I wanted.

"I have enjoyed it here and wanted to stay. I wasn't thinking about leaving so I am pleased that I have been offered the chance to stay."

Strutton was a late entrant into professional football, signing for Wimbledon in March 2012 from Southern League Division One side Chalfont St Peter.

Since then he has scored three goals in 17 appearances and also had a five-game loan spell at Maidenhead United.

"Charlie had good impact at the end of last season and played a big part in us staying up," Dons boss Neal Ardley said.

"He is still a bit raw and has had a few injuries but if we can limit his time out injured he can be a really good striker at this level."
