Steven Schumacher has signed a two-year deal at Fleetwood Town after joining from Bury for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old is joined by defender Liam Hogan, 24, who has also signed for two years after reaching the end of his deal with FC Halifax Town.

"The ambition of the club and where it sees itself in the future was a big attraction to me," said Schumacher.

"There is a lot of drive at Fleetwood and I want to bring my own influence to what happens on the pitch next season."

Schumacher, who had a year remaining on his contract with Bury, scored 10 goals in 44 appearances in 2012-13 but could not prevent Kevin Blackwell's side being relegated from League One.

Having had loan spells at Carlisle and Oldham while at Everton, Schumacher has made 308 league appearances and also played for Bradford and Crewe before moving to Gigg Lane in July 2010.

Town manager Graham Alexander, who has also added former York midfielder Matty Blair to his squad since the end of the season, said: "Steven has come in and will be a great addition to the squad. He has great experience of winning at this level and of promotion. He scored 10 goals from midfield last season and brings leadership qualities as well."

Hogan played 37 times last season as FC Halifax won promotion from the Conference North via the play-offs earlier this month.
