Conference Premier club Grimsby have signed midfielder Patrick McLaughlin from York City on a two-year-deal.

A Northern Ireland U21 international, McLaughlin joined the Minstermen from Newcastle United in the summer of 2011.

The 22-year-old made 68 league starts for York, scoring 13 goals, but was released by the club at the end of last season.

McLaughlin will link up again with former midfield partner Scott Kerr, signed by Grimsby earlier this month.
