Oxford United have completed the signings of Asa Hall and Tom Newey.

Midfielder Hall, 25, has joined on a six-month loan deal from Shrewsbury, while 30-year-old left-back Newey has signed a one-year contract following his release by Scunthorpe.

"They are both very experienced, solid players and they add a bit of depth.

"They both came to the Marine Camp training base last weekend and fitted straight in to the team ethic," boss Chris Wilder told the club website.

Hall is set for his second spell at the club after making 82 appearances for the U's between 2010 and 2012.

Newey, meanwhile, played 49 games for Scunthorpe last season but was one of seven players not offered new contracts.

"Tom adds balance on the left side of defence and is a good organiser as well as a good player," added Wilder.

"Asa showed us towards the end of his first spell here what a good player he can be at this level."

Newey and Hall take the total number of new faces at the Kassam Stadium this summer to seven after the signings of David Hunt, Danny Rose,Jon Meades,Josh Shama and Dave Kitson.
