Derry City have signed former Dundalk left-back Eoghan Osbourne until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old was released by the County Louth outfit on Monday, after he helped set up Dundalk's winner against Derry at the Brandywell last Friday.

Osbourne comes in as cover after Dean Jarvis, who is out for six weeks after sustaining an injury in training.

"It's a massive opportunity at a massive club and I can't wait to get started," said Osbourne.

Osbourne was seeking a new club after limited opportunities with Dundalk this season.

"I was getting more frustrated and I needed to play football, so I wanted to be released," he added.

"Everything happened so quickly and I couldn't believe it when I got a call and it was from Derry City."

Jarvis joins long-term Candystripes absentees Dermot McCaffery and Thomas Crawley.
