The Pars United group will find out whether their bid to take Dunfermline out of administration has been successful before the end of the month.

The club's administrator, BDO, has announced that a creditors' meeting will be held on 30 July to consider the Pars United offer.

Creditors will consider a pence in the pound deal for what they are owed.

The support of those due 75% of the total debt is needed for a company voluntary arrangement to be successful.

A winding-up order brought about by an unpaid tax bill of £134,000 pushed the Fife club towards administration in March.

That process was formalised the following month and a 15-point penalty was incurred. Jim Jefferies' side were eventually relegated to Scottish Division Two via the play-offs.

Dunfermline have debts of around £8.5m, most of which is owed to majority shareholder Gavin Masterton.

Pars United was last week named as preferred bidder for the club and the separate company that owns East End Park stadium, which is also in administration.

The fans' group is hoping to raise around £500,000 to fund the proposed takeover.

A statement from BDO read: "Meetings of creditors and members of Dunfermline Athletic FC are being held at East End Park on Tuesday 30 July 2013 at 12:00 BST and 15:00 respectively to consider the joint administrators' proposals for a creditors voluntary arrangement."
