Oxford United have confirmed the signing of young midfielder Josh Ruffels who will be added to the club's development squad.

Ruffels, 19, was released by Coventry and played for their first team and manager Chris Wilder was delighted to add the midfielder to his squad.

"He is level-headed, wants to work hard and we are delighted he has committed his future to the club," said Wilder.

"He's an Oxford lad who perhaps slipped through the net when he was a boy."

Meanwhile, Chris Wilder says with Ryan Williams also close to joining the U's on loan from Fulham, his summer signings will be completed.

Wilder has added heavily to his squad and believes he has a unit capable of mounting a promotion push this season.

"I think we're done now," Wilder told BBC Radio Oxford,

"I'm delighted with the recruitment we've made in the summer.

"We've bought a lot of new players and they've gelled really well. We've had a tough pre-season and we're looking to hit the ground running.

"We like players who are tactically and mentally good, but we need to be a team and we think we have brought in team players this season."
