Oxford United striker James Constable says he is aiming to become the club's all time record goalscorer this season.

The 28-year-old is just 13 goals away from the record of 107 held by Graham Atkinson since 1974.

Constable told BBC Radio Oxford: "I met him last season and he said he'd love it if I go on and get his record.

"I'd love to break the record, it's something that I've been aware of since joining. But as long as we're doing well I'm sure the goals will come."

But the former Shrewsbury forward, who has been the club's top scorer for the past five seasons, said his first priority is winning promotion to League One.

"It would be great to get 15 or 20 goals again this season and then hopefully there will be success for the club at the end as well.," he added.
