An injury-time equaliser from Luke Howell salvaged a point for Dagenham at Scunthorpe.

The visitors could have taken the lead early in the second half through Brian Woodall's close-range effort.

Scunthorpe's Chris Iwelumo then had his penalty saved by Chris Lewington after Femi Ilesanmi handled in the box.

David Mirfin's 88th-minute header looked to have snatched victory for the hosts but Howell equalised in stoppage time with a left-footed strike.

"We've not played well today, we did play marginally better in the first half. We had a lot of possession but we weren't creative enough in the first half to break down a solid unit.

"They had two opportunities to go in the lead and probably I've got to say hand on heart they would have deserved that because the warning signs were there but sometimes you've got to look at it and think well we're very fortunate but we've got to keep going.

"The one thing I've said to the players is there are a lot of players who haven't performed to their capabilities today, too many of them and they were very slow in their decision making."
