Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon is stepping up his efforts to sign a wide player in an effort to end the Edinburgh side's goal drought.

The Easter Road outfit have conceded 11 goals this season and have yet to score themselves.

"With Alex Harris and Paul Cairney injured, we're probably missing a bit of width," Fenlon told BBC Scotland.

"The board have backed me and there are a few players out there that we'd like to bring in."

Fenlon, whose side lost the Edinburgh derby last weekend, has backed his forwards to find their touch in front of goal.

"I know we've got goals in the team and proven goalscorers in Rowan Vine and James Collins up front," he said.

"Liam Craig has scored plenty of goals in his career too. Scott Robertson can chip in with goals as well.

"We just maybe need a little break in front of goal. We've got to try to find other ways to create chances."

Responding to speculation that some fans may protest ahead of Saturday's game against Dundee United at Easter Road, Fenlon said: "The supporters have been fantastic since I've been here and have backed the team to the hilt.

"I can't say anything negative about the support since I've been here; they've been different class.

"We've said for a while now that we're looking for a wide player and, with injuries to Alex and Paul, we're short in that department.

"However, we want to make sure we bring in the right player to fit into the squad and the way we want to play.

"The board have backed me and there are a few players out there that we'd like to bring in. You've got to be patient at times."
