Hull City: Steve Bruce delighted with summer recruitment

Hull City boss Steve Bruce is confident he has put together a side capable of retaining their Premier League status.

The Tigers have brought in 10 players, including Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore this week, since securing their return to the top flight.

Bruce told BBC Radio Humberside: "Overall, I'm delighted with what we've done.

"I've managed to get in all of the players who were at the top of my shopping list."

Hull, who finished second to Cardiff in the Championship last season, begin their campaign with a trip to Chelsea on Sunday.

The former Birmingham, Wigan and Sunderland boss is looking towards the future after taking the KC Stadium side up in his first year in charge.

"We've got to stay up but when you look at it 47 teams have competed in the Premier League in the last 22 years and only eight have been there all the time," he said.

"My aim is to say how long can we stay in here, get bigger and better and compete at the top end of the table.

"There's a crackle and a buzz about the place at the moment and we need to try and keep that.

"There'll be times through the season where fans will be questioning decisions and I'll be questioning myself. The league is intense and demanding but it's the only place to be."
