Truro City boss Steve Massey says his team's last-gasp equaliser against Bedford will help the feelgood factor return to Treyew Road.

Jordan Copp's last-minute penalty gave Truro a 2-2 draw in the opening match of their league campaign.

The White Tigers were in financial disarray last season, but Massey hopes a new era is beginning at the club.

"It feels like a winning draw - we're going in the right direction and we can build," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Too many times last year, there was too much doom and gloom. Whatever the result the fans know there's a team of players here who will fight to the end.

"I thought we fully deserved it. Their two goals were soft but the guys showed a lot of character - they could have dropped their heads. For the majority of the guys it's the first time they've played at this standard.

"It's two or three steps above what they've been playing and now they know what it's about.

"They have to keep that belief - they know they're talented enough to compete but now they have to raise the bar, which I know they are very capable of."
