Hartlepool 1-2 Wycombe

Max Kretzschmar scored his first goals in professional football as Wycombe secured a first away win of the season.

The hosts had the majority of the first-half chances, but the introduction of Kretzschmar at the break changed the game.

The substitute opened the scoring with a fine strike from 25 yards, before clipping another finish past Scott Flinders after a Chairboys breakaway.

Hartlepool got on the scoresheet when James Poole headed in from close range.

The home side are still without a win in League Two this season.

Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"[In the first half] we didn't play well at all, and I won't make any excuses. But, second half we came out, and we played how we can play. We had the wind, we took the game to them and we were on the front foot.

"I put Max on at half time instead of Nick Arnold; I thought Nick did well, kept his shape, kept it 0-0, but Max gives us something else going forward. It paid off because of two goals from him.

"[Kretzschmar is] a great kid and I'm really pleased for him but what a team performance. The boys worked really hard today and deserved their win.

"I was disappointed that [Hartlepool] scored at the end because we pride ourselves on set plays, but having said that, I think 2-1 away from home, anyone would have taken that at the start of the day, especially me. We're going home happy."
