Frank Sinclair: Colwyn Bay showing signs of progress

Colwyn Bay player-manager Frank Sinclair says his new-look side are already beginning to gel just six games into the new season.

The Conference North club only just escaped relegation last season and lost the opening two games of this campaign.

But Sinclair, 41, told BBC Sport: "We had a difficult first two results but we played well, should've got something and I knew results would turn.

"Since then we have gone four unbeaten and are looking upwards in the league."

The Bay won six consecutive games at the end of last season to avoid relegation but lost their opening two fixtures against Histon and Stalybridge Celtic this campaign.

However, two wins and two draws since then have lifted the spirits at the north Wales club and taken them to 11th in the table.

"We brought in eight or nine [players] over the summer and only had 11 from last season and the new players are settling in already and have strengthened the team," Sinclair said.

"But it's hard hard to judge where we will be and want to be. We were in a relegation battle last season and were down there for a reason. To turn it around and be title or promotion contenders is a difficult one but we believe in the team and the players.

"The spirit is fantastic, the players play their hearts out and have lots of ability. There is not much difference in quality in the teams in this league, so it is all about getting organised and my experience should help with that."
