Rochdale earned their fourth straight league win despite a valiant Wycombe comeback in a thrilling encounter.

Scott Hogan's fifth goal of the season opened the scoring for Dale before Joe Bunney's left-foot shot made it 2-0.

In a frantic opening Michael Rose added a third but the visitors got back in it through Matt McClure's driven strike.

Jo Kuffour's curled effort gave Wycombe hope of a point but the hosts held on to end the Blues' five-game unbeaten run in League Two.

The win sends Rochdale into the top five while the visitors drop to 10th.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Rochdale manager Keith Hill told BBC Radio Manchester:

"We were worthy victors today. We started superbly and brightly, and then we probably allowed the opposition back into the game.

"Once they were back in it, they showed they're a good side. I'm just happy that we won."

Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Post-match: Wycombe boss Ainsworth

"After 15 minutes and it being 3-0, it was a hell of a mountain to climb and we almost did it.

"I don't think we deserved anything from the game today. The way we started the game we were dragged from pillar to post and tactically Rochdale had us.

"We can't start like that again. We can't be conceding space, conceding pockets in the pitch and letting chances fly in like they did.

"We're looking now to get that run started again and Burton will be our focus next week, but I can't let that lie. For the next few days I'll be picking the bones out of the game and making sure it doesn't happen again."
