Wycombe Wanderers 1-2 Bury

  • Published

Bury beat Wycombe to earn their first away victory of the season thanks to William Edjenguele's late header.

Anthony Stewart gave Wycombe the lead from a corner, meeting Josh Scowen's cross at the far post to volley into the top corner.

Tom Soares grabbed a deserved equaliser for the visitors when he finished Anton Forrester's clever cut-back.

Matt Bloomfield was sent off for a rash tackle on Shaun Beeley and Edjenguele headed home Chris Sedgwick's corner.

Post-match: Wycombe boss Ainsworth

Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"We are young and sometimes we look young when we're playing and inexperienced and in the second half, we didn't play the right way.

"We aren't going to win every game and we didn't win that one today.

"As good as we were in the first half, we were bad in the second half.

"[Matt Bloomfield's red card] - it happens, we've had them for us and we've had them against us."
