Guernsey FC: Tony Vance says players must believe in ability

Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says his players need to have faith in their footballing ability if they are to keep their promotion challenge on course.

Vance praised the style of his team's 4-1 win over Worthing and wants to see it reproduced it on a regular basis.

"We zip the ball around in training and I want us to practise what we preach in games," he told BBC Guernsey.

"When we don't do it on a match day I'm disappointed. That's our asset and we have to keep trusting ourselves."

Guernsey are sitting in seventh place in the Ryman League South table, with games in hand on all of the clubs above them in the standings.

"Today was about trying to play football - the instruction was to get the ball down and try to pass it around so I was very pleased with the way we played," he said, singling "lethal" striker Ross Allen out for praise after his second-half hat-trick.

"We had a few injuries but the guys dug in really well - it was a fantastic effort all round," he said.

"You have to pick up points and stay in the chasing pack and that's what we're trying to do.

"We have to keep the momentum going and if we're in and around chasing pack in March time then I'll be pleased."
