Reading will be without defender Wayne Bridge for a number of weeks while he recovers from a knee operation.

The 33-year-old has made 10 appearances for the Royals this season after joining from Manchester City in June.

Bridge, who won 36 caps for England, joins Reading's lengthy injury list.

Jem Karacan and Jason Roberts are battling long-term problems, while Royston Drenthe (foot) and Mikele Leigertwood (ankle) are closing in on returns to the first team.

Reading drew 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
