Luton Town extended their unbeaten run to 16 games as first-half goals from Paul Benson and Alex Lawless helped them to win at 10-man Barnet.

Benson latched onto Andre Gray's pass for the opener before Lawless doubled their lead with a superb curling shot.

Barnet then had Jon Nurse sent off for a challenge that resulted in Jonathan Smith being stretchered off.

The hosts reduced the deficit after the break when Jake Hyde headed in Andy Yiadom's cross but Luton held on.

Smith now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, having suffered a suspected broken leg.

VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Luton manager John Still told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"Jon Nurse is one of my old players. He's not got a bad bone in his body. It was a late challenge, knowing Jon, with no intent what-so-ever. But it was a red card.

"The way I reacted to it was with a little bit of shock, I've got to be honest. I think the players probably felt the same.

"The game should have been over before they even scored, but it wasn't. But we can't ponder that. We've won away from home."
