Manchester United defender Phil Jones is expected to be out of action for two weeks with a knee injury.
Jones, 21, has been a regular since manager David Moyes took charge in the summer and has made 22 appearances for United this season.
In recent weeks, the versatile England international has impressed in a central midfield role.
But he is now set to be absent until the new year after being ruled out of United's festive programme.
Right-back Rafael limped out of the 3-2 win at Hull with what appeared to be a groin injury.
Jones also sat out that game and is now set to miss Premier League matches against Norwich and Tottenham.
The versatile player is also set to miss the FA Cup third-round tie versus Swansea City, as well as the League Cup semi-final first leg clash at Sunderland on 7 January.
United already have midfielder Marouane Fellaini, striker Robin van Persie, and winger Nani out injured.
