Pablo Hernandez could be back in two weeks, says Michael Laudrup

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup hopes Pablo Hernandez is not as badly injured as first thought.

The 28-year-old Spanish winger was helped off the pitch after hurting his hamstring in his side's 3-2 defeat to Manchester City.

"When I first saw it I thought it was one of those hamstring problems that can keep you out for four or five weeks," said Laudrup.

"But it may be more like two weeks, we'll know on Saturday."

He added: "The doctors said it may not be bad and it might be like [Wilfried] Bony's injury against Valencia, where we thought it would be serious but he was out for two weeks."

Former Valencia player Hernandez has had hamstring and thigh problems this season and only returned to first-team action following an injury lay-off at the end of November.

But he only lasted eight minutes against City who recorded back-to-back Premier League away wins under Manuel Pellegrini for the first time.

Swansea, who are 13th and just four points above the relegation zone, have still only managed two home league wins all season.

But Laudrup was encouraged by his side's performance against second-placed City as the rain lashed down at the Liberty Stadium.

"In the first half we were excellent; we came back and had more chances than Man City and then they got the second goal via a deflection off Ashley [Williams]," said Laudrup.

"After conceding three goals to a top team like City, it's difficult to win, but the third goal really hurt us because we tried to come back, had a chance and then they scored the third one.

"So it was really uphill after that. We got a second goal but it was too late."
