Hartlepool United have signed forward Luke Williams and midfielder Jack Barmby on one-month loan deals.

Manchester United's Barmby, 19, is the son of ex-Liverpool and England winger Nick, and has not played a senior game.

Williams, 20, has made 30 appearances for Middlesbrough since becoming their youngest ever debutant in 2010.

"Luke's very keen and I think he needs a chance to feel good after levelling off since that rise as a 16-year-old," manager Colin Cooper told BBC Tees.

"Everybody at Middlesbrough recognises his talent, but it's a case of finding somewhere for him to kick on.

"With Jack, Manchester United and his dad feel he's ready to step up from under-21 football.

"It's very difficult at a huge club like that to break through. I think clubs are recognising that we're a good place to send players to develop."
