Southend United 2-3 Exeter City

Substitute Eliot Richards' dramatic late strike saw Exeter come from behind to beat promotion-chasing Southend.

The striker, on loan from Bristol Rovers, beat two men and then fired under goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

Earlier, Mark Phillips scored two headers for the hosts, one from a free-kick and the other from a corner, after Jimmy Keohane had slotted Exeter ahead.

Liam Sercombe equalised with a stunning strike into the top corner from outside the box before Richards' heroics.

Bentley looked like he had secured all three points for the Shrimpers as he made a string of fine saves to preserve their lead, but Exeter were eventually rewarded for a dominant second-half performance.

The loss for Phil Brown's men extends their winless run to five league games and means they are now seven points off an automatic promotion place.
