Jake Forster-Caskey: Brighton youngster eyes FA Cup progress

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey hopes they can seize their opportunity to cause an upset against Hull City in the FA Cup.

The Seagulls welcome the Premier League side to the Amex Stadium in their fifth-round tie on Monday.

"It will be a big occasion because if we can win that game anything can happen after that," he told BBC Sussex.

"The Amex is a good place for us and it is tough for everybody coming here. We will give them a good game."

Brighton, who currently lie seventh in the Championship table, are looking to reach the last eight of the competition for the third time in their history.

The 1983 finalists have not reached the quarter-final stage since they lost 2-0 to Southampton in 1986.

Known for the passing game introduced by former manager Gus Poyet, the Sussex club have continued that philosophy since Oscar Garcia was appointed head coach in the summer.

They have not faced top-flight opposition in the FA Cup this season but have knocked out Newcastle in each of the past two campaigns.

"I don't think we are going to change the way we play," 19-year-old Forster-Caskey said.

"We have got an identity to our football and no matter what team comes and plays at Amex we will play the same way.

"We like to keep the ball so hopefully we can do that against them. We know they are a good side and they are in the Premier League for a reason.

"Hopefully it is good enough to beat a Premier League side. We'll see."

With two lower-league sides guaranteed to reach the last eight, the possibility of reaching a Wembley semi-final remains a possibility for the six non-Premier League sides left in the FA Cup.

With the draw for the next round taking place on Sunday, Albion will know their potential quarter-final opponents come kick-off against the Tigers.

"People say the FA Cup doesn't mean as much now but I don't believe in that," Forster-Caskey said.

"The FA Cup is still very special and everybody wants to play in it.

"We have got a Premier League side so everybody is looking forward to it. It will be a tough game no matter what.

"Hopefully I can play on Monday and we can cause an upset."
