Russell Brand: BBC Match of the Day pundit role for Sport Relief
- Published
Comedian and West Ham supporter Russell Brand will be a guest pundit on BBC One's Match of the Day show on Saturday night in aid of Sport Relief.
The entertainer will help mark a weekend of fundraising by giving his views on the Hammers' Premier League match against Manchester United.
Also joining the show, hosted by Gary Lineker, will be former Brazilian World Cup-winning footballer Leonardo.
The ex-Paris St-Germain director joins Alan Shearer in dissecting the action.
Essex-born Brand, 38, is a lifelong West Ham fan, has the club crest tattooed on a bicep and lists Scottish striker Frank McAvennie, who starred in the 1980s, as his all-time favourite player.
He will offer his thoughts after the Hammers, who are currently 12th, take on seventh-placed Manchester United at Upton Park (kick-off 17:30 GMT).
Other matches to feature on a busy day of Premier League action include Chelsea v Arsenal, which kicks off at 12:45, plus Cardiff v Liverpool and Manchester City v Fulham (both 15:00).
Brand featured on the BBC's Football Focus programme in January 2013, while Leonardo has contributed to coverage of the World Cup, but this is his first appearance on Match of the Day.
Sport Relief is aiming to beat the £50m it raised two years ago through a telethon and other fundraising activities.
