Shrewsbury Town 1-3 Crewe Alexandra

  • Published

Crewe boosted their survival hopes and dented Shrewsbury's chances of staying in League One with a comfortable win.

Crewe went ahead on 38 minutes when Mathias Pogba powered home a header from Jon Guthrie's right-wing corner.

Uche Ikpeazu rifled into the top corner to double the lead after the break and, with the Shrews pressing for a way back into the game, Anthony Grant broke away from halfway and finished coolly.

Tom Bradshaw clawed a goal back for Shrewsbury in stoppage time.

Crewe's third successive away win lifts them out of the bottom four and puts them two points above Carlisle, who have a game in hand.

Shrewsbury are now five points from safety with three games of the campaign remaining.
