Sheffield United have signed midfielder James Wallace from relegated Tranmere on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old was out of contract after making 37 league appearances in two seasons.

He is their sixth summer signing, after defender Andy Butler, midfielders Ben Davies, Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Chris Basham and striker Marc McNulty.

"It's a privilege to be here and I can't wait to get started," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"The aim is to get a good pre-season under my belt and get back to the form I showed in my first season at Tranmere.

"It's all about getting a good start and building on that foundation."
