Cambridge-born Coulson played 45 games n the U's promotion campaign

Cambridge United defender Josh Coulson has said the club cannot waste their opportunity after a nine-year wait to return to the Football League.

The U's won the Conference Premier play-off final last season to confirm their place in League Two.

And recruitment has already started with four new arrivals at the Abbey.

"We've worked too hard to get here and do nothing. Let's try and kick on again and see what happens," Coulson tod BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

The U's have signed Luke Chadwick, Robbie Simpson, Chris Dunn and Johnny Hunt for the new campaign.

Coulson, 25, has played all of his football for his hometown side, breaking into the first team in the 2009-10 campaign and going on to make 168 appearances in non-league.

And the centre-half is anticipating Cambridge's first season in the Football League for almost a decade.

"Just seeing the League Two badge on my arm will do it for me," he said.

"Hopefully we will have a fairly big crowd here for the first game and we can get a result.

"There's a few local derbies and bigger crowds and bigger atmosphere's - it's what you want to play in."
