Burnley have signed Michael Kightly on a permanent basis from Stoke after the winger helped the Clarets win promotion to the Premier League last season.

Kightly played 38 times while on loan at Turf Moor, scoring five goals.

Burnley have paid an undisclosed fee for the 28-year-old, who has agreed a three-year contract.

"As soon as we secured promotion to the Premier League last season, I wanted to make sure that I signed," Kightly told the club website., external

"Coming in on loan is usually difficult but it only took a few weeks here to get settled and it is great to be a permanent Burnley player now.

"At the tail end of last season I felt like I was getting back to my best and if I can carry that into next season then I will have a good campaign."

Kightly joined Stoke from Wolves in August 2012 and made a total of 26 competitive appearances for the Potters.

Burnley, who finished second in the Championship last season, will play in the Premier League for the first time since 2009-10 next term and begin their top-flight campaign with a home fixture against Chelsea.
