Wrexham 2-2 Macclesfield Town

  • Published

Paul Turnbull rescued a point for Macclesfield Town away to Wrexham in the Conference.

Waide Fairhurst had put the Silkmen ahead when he was allowed to turn on the edge of the box and send a skidding low shot into the net.

Wrexham equalised when Connor Jennings got across his marker to convert Neil Ashton's cross, and then led as Blaine Hudson headed in Ashton's free-kick.

But Turnbull replied with his own header after being found by Fairhurst.

Wrexham manager Kevin Wilkin told BBC Radio Wales:

"Credit to Macclesfield, they've proved why they're unbeaten so far this season. They're a tenacious side and kept going but I'm disappointed not to close the game out.

"We are learning but we need to understand and we need to understand quicker. For their second goal we're high up the field, it's a throw-in down in their bottom corner but... to switch off thereafter is disappointing.

"We got rolled too easy, served the ball up and I'm not too happy with either of the goals we gave away."
