Swansea have won three games in a row in league and cup

Swansea City boss Garry Monk said he was pleased with his side's performance after ringing the changes for the League Cup win over Rotherham United.

Only Nathan Dyer remained in the starting line-up from the team that beat Burnley 1-0 on Saturday.

Monk said his team was in charge throughout the 90 minutes.

"We were able to control the game and break on them and should have added to our tally but I can't complain; clean sheet, 1-0 and into the next round."

Striker Bafetimbi Gomis scored his debut goal for the Swans in his first start following his summer move from Lyon.

Former Swans defender Monk said his team improved after the break and coped well with everything the Championship side had to throw at them.

"First half, the passing wasn't as sharp as it should have been but second half, it came out... very good passing and very much more like us.

"All in all, I think everyone did very well with difficult circumstances against a Championship side that had a good result at the weekend, good momentum coming up from last year.

"The long throw-ins that were coming into the box and long balls coming in were dealt with very well.

"I think they only had one shot on target which was pleasing; we threw bodies on the line and defended very well."

Monk said he would have liked to have seen his side win more comfortably but they kept possession well, especially in the second half, which alleviated pressure on the defence.

"Of course we'd love to score four or five goals every single game but it doesn't always happen so it's about doing the right job."

Swansea, who find out their third round opponents on Wednesday, return to Premier League action on Saturday against West Bromwich Albion, at Liberty Stadium.
