Irish Premiership: Warrenpoint Town 1-1 Cliftonville

Joe Gormley rescued a point for champions Cliftonville after a controversial penalty award in their game away to Warrenpoint Town.

Referee Ross Dunlop ruled that defender Dermot McVeigh had fouled Tiarnan Mulvenna and pointed to the spot.

Martin Marron saved Gormley's kick but the striker followed up to head in.

Stephen Hughes scored Warrenpoint's goal on 82 minutes, soon after having a penalty saved by Cliftonville keeper Conor Devlin.

That spot-kick was awarded for a trip by Johnny Flynn on Ciaran O'Connor and Devlin dived to his left to palm the ball away.

Hughes redeemed himself by shooting in after a quick free-kick move saw on-loan striker O'Connor break into the box to set up the chance.

Cliftonville manager Tommy Breslin: "We were lethargic and did not move the ball quickly enough.

"I am at a loss because it is the complete opposite to what we have been producing.

"But we showed a bit of character at the end and, whether we deserved it or not, we got a point out of the game."
