Rochdale 4-0 Walsall

Rochdale picked up their second victory in three League One games as they thrashed Walsall at Spotland.

Rochdale led when Matt Done raced on to Peter Vincenti's flick-on to round Saddlers goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell.

After Ashley Eastham glanced in Scott Tanser's free-kick, Ian Henderson then added a third before the interval.

Andy Butler, who returned to Walsall last week on loan, turned Jamie Allen's cross into his own net to compound a miserable night for the Saddlers.

Walsall manager Dean Smith told BBC WM:

"Yes, we've got injuries but that is no excuse. As a defensive unit we were very poor. It was atrocious defending.

"Rochdale are a good team and have players in form, but, at any level, if you give goals away like that, you will get walloped.

"We had an experienced back-line out there, but we gave ourselves a mountain to climb with our first-half performance.

"The lads will come in on their day off and we'll have a look at it. We have to make sure that we learn from it and respond in the right way."
