Bolton Wanderers have signed Crystal Palace midfielder Owen Garvan on an initial three-month loan deal.

He will link up again with Bolton boss Dougie Freedman, having played under the Scot at Selhurst Park.

The 26-year-old made 13 appearances on loan at Millwall last season and came on as a substitute for Palace this season in a League Cup win at Walsall.

Dublin-born Garvan began his career with Ipswich Town, scoring 15 goals in 174 appearances for the Suffolk club.

He moved to Selhurst Park in 2010, external and has made 63 league starts for the Eagles, scoring 10 goals.

Garvan will go straight into Bolton's squad for Saturday's Championship game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Wanderers are yet to win in the league this season, taking one point from their first five matches.
