Queen of the South set to name new manager within a week

Queen of the South expect to appoint a new manager by the end of the week, chairman Billy Hewitson has revealed.
Jim McIntyre quit as boss of the Palmerston club earlier this month to take over at Ross County.
"Hopefully by the end of the week we'll have done some interviews and probably appointed someone," Hewitson told BBC Scotland.
The Queens chief also confirmed that caretaker manager James Fowler is a contender for the role.
"Of course he is [in contention], or we wouldn't have left it this long," Hewitson added.
"There's around 30 serious applications. A great variety of different types of people.
"It's difficult at the moment. The team virtually picks itself, it's a good team that's been together for three years so maybe we're looking for a manager that fits the team as oppose to the other way round."
Fowler guided the Palmerston outfit to a 1-1 draw at Falkirk in his only game in charge so far.
