Steve Tully: Truro must improve if they have promotion ambitions

Boss Steve Tully says Truro City must beat teams like Saturday's opponents Burnham to do well in the Southern League Premier Division this season.

The White Tigers went two goals behind before strikes from Isaac Vassell and Rob Farkins ensured a point.

"We should have won, bar a linesman's decision and a little bit of luck our way," Tully told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"If we have aspirations of getting out of this league we've got to be coming away with wins from places like this."

After a delayed kick-off because the referee arrived late, Truro found themselves two goals down within half an hour.

"We just didn't start and could have come in more goals down," the former Exeter City defender added.

"We've set good standards all this season and we said at half-time that it wasn't acceptable."

Shortly after the break, Vassell launched the second-half comeback with a simple finish from Cody Cooke's cross before Farkins headed home to level matters.

"Things needed to be changed and to be fair they gave it a real go in the second half," Tully continued.

"We're disappointed that we didn't win the game but delighted to come back from 2-0 down and get a point."
