Woking 1-0 Nuneaton Town

  • Published

Giuseppe Sole's last-minute winner against Conference strugglers Nuneaton ended Woking's three-match losing run.

The hosts created the better early chances, with Jack Marriott firing over from close range and Joe McNerney failing to turn in a near-post effort.

Woking had two penalty shouts turned away, the second for offside after fit-again Kevin Betsy was fouled.

But Sole's free-kick found the bottom corner when late substitute Betsy was fouled again 20 seconds from full-time.

Boro slip to second bottom following a second defeat in four days for new manager Liam Daish.

Woking boss Garry Hill told BBC Surrey:

"It was a game we dominated for long periods and I was very pleased with the energy we played with.

Garry Hill: Woking manager after win over Nuneaton

"To score a goal so late and keep a clean sheet after the last 10 or 12 days we've been through, it was a big win for us. The squad we have this season has a little more depth and quality.

"I saw the way Kevin Betsy was training and saw the appetite and confidence was there. Everyone was surprised he was included, but he's a big player for us."
