Swansea City 'should have won' says manager Garry Monk

Swansea City manager Garry Monk says his side "should have won" following a 2-2 draw at home with Newcastle United.

Swansea have not won in the Premier League since beating West Bromwich Albion 3-0 in August.

Monk also said he was "disappointed" with his side's performance after a game in which striker Wilfried Bony was twice denied by goalkeeper Tim Krul.

"We should have won the game, but one point is better than none," said Monk.

"The two times we didn't concentrate we were punished... the possession was so easy that our concentration lapsed a little.

"They were poor goals from our point of view."

The draw means Swansea are without a win in four Premier League games, securing only two points out of a possible 12.

Despite the statistic, Monk said that he has found Swansea's performances generally to be "very pleasing".

He added: "We've done a lot of really good things, but it seems that every game you learn lessons.

"Today was a lesson in concentration, so hopefully we can improve on that.

"We're at a very good level right now, but it's important that we try to get to an even better level, which the players are working towards."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew came into the fixture under pressure as the Magpies had failed to win any of their opening half-dozen games, leaving them joint-bottom of the table on points.

Despite the draw, Pardew is expected to remain in charge of Newcastle.
