Euro 2016: Gwion Edwards called up for Wales qualifiers

Midfielder Gwion Edwards has been called up to join the Wales squad for their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Bosnia-Hercegovina and Cyprus.

Defenders James Collins and Paul Dummett and midfielder Lee Evans are out of the squad with injury.

Boss Chris Coleman already had injury worries, with key midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen absent.

Wales play Bosnia-Hercegovina on Friday, 10 October and Cyprus three days later in Cardiff.

Under-21 international Edwards, 21, who was a Swansea City trainee, joins Crawley Town team-mate Joe Walsh in the squad which also includes Cardiff City's Declan John.

West Ham's Collins, 31, had a scan on Monday and did not join the Wales squad in Cardiff due to a groin injury.

Wolves midfielder Evans 20, is out with a hamstring injury and Dummett of Newcastle United has a muscular injury.

Collins missed the opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Andorra which his side won 2-1 thanks to two Gareth Bale goals.

Would-be Wales debutant Evans revealed on social media on Tuesday that he will not play.

Evans tweeted: "Disappointed to have to head home from the Welsh camp! Hopefully my time with Wales will come again."

The former Newport County player suffered a hamstring injury during Wolves' 3-1 defeat by Huddersfield on 1 October.

Former Swansea City player Allen has not played for Liverpool since suffering a knee injury in Wales' 2-1 win in Andorra on 9 September, since when it is believed he had a double hernia operation.

Fellow midfielders Ramsey and David Vaughan are sidelined by hamstring injuries.

However, Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale joined the squad on Monday and says he is looking forward to playing his part.
