A Ryan Campbell goal sees Ballinamallard beat Coleraine 1-0 and move off the bottom of the Irish Premiership table.

Ballinamallard are off the Premiership basement after a Ryan Campbell strike secured a 1-0 win over Coleraine.

Jason McCartney blazed wide for the Ferney Park hosts before Coleraine's Aaron Canning went close.

Campbell fired low into the bottom corner on 49 minutes while the visitors missed out when Mark Miskimmin shot weakly when well placed.

Coleraine keeper Michael Doherty twice denied Liam Martin late on as the Mallards moved up to 10th.

It was a vital win for Whitey Anderson's side and just their second in the league this season.

McCartney failed to find the target from five yards while Canning sent his 25-yard shot just wide.

Mallards keeper Stefan McCusker kept out a Darren McCauley effort before Doherty saved from Johnny Lafferty.

The only goal came early in the second half with Campbell latching on to a Lafferty pass before providing a low finish across Doherty and into the Bannsiders net.

McCauley set up Miskimmin for Coleraine's best chance but the striker's tame shot was easily saved by McCusker.

The hosts threatened a second goal late on with Martin's two chances coming after Lafferty's low drive was saved by Doherty.
